Journalism Internship

Position Description:

The Journalism Internship

Interns will help assist day to day tasks given by the CEO, Managing Editor or Fashion Director. Interns will mainly work with website content to keep the website up-to-date and looking great! Interns will also help assist on designs or any service(s) that clients will need. Any students from the fashion industry is welcomed and highly encourage to apply for this position.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Research topics

-Pitch topic ideas

-Weekly meetings via online or in-person

-Can be about anything underneath topic umbrella

-Keep up with current topics and trends in pop-culture, as well as underground, preferred

– Scout and interview people of interest to talk about on site

Videographer/ Multimedia Producer

Position Title: Videographer/ Multimedia Producer

Hours per Week: 5-15

Position Description:

Videographer/ Multimedia Producer

 This position will be responsible for the conception, scripting, recording, editing, and distribution of video and other related multimedia content in support of university marketing initiatives.

A successful candidate will display a strong marketing background and an advanced understanding of how multimedia content integrates with and supports other communication channels-social media, web, special events, print, etc.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

–        Handle writing and project management for a number of internal clients including key academic and administrative units.

–        Researching, writing or manage scriptwriting, shot planning, directing, editing, interviewing, and distribution and posting.

–        Manage vendor relationships with designers, writers, and photographers as needed.

–        Manage the editorial calendar for clients and stay ahead of jobs to ensure quality, current messaging, alignment with brand standards.

–        Manage video archives and track and maintain equipment.

–        Serve as point person for channels for multimedia.

–        Promote multimedia work throughout the university and develop strong relationships with university partners.

–        Support the budget process, equipment purchases and maintenance and track all jobs. Oversee charge back of work and provide job estimates to clients.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

–           English, Advertising, Journalism and one year experience in writing, shooting, directing, and/or editing or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

–           Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills for print, video and web.

–           Expert knowledge of current video and audio production equipment, technologies, and software is essential. Storytelling approach is also critical.

–           Superior organizational, interpersonal, speaking skills, and the ability to work independently.

–           Ability to drive results and multi-task in a collaborative, mission driven and consensus-focused organization.

–           Ability to manage timelines, client charge backs, and track jobs.

–           High ethical standards and integrity required.

–           Experience managing vendor and freelance relationships.

Social Media Coordinator

Position Description:

Social Media Contributor Internship

This position has two primary areas of responsibility: production of The G.O.O.D.S Magazine, both in print and online, and coordination of the magazines social media presence. The successful candidate will be an excellent writer and editor, someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and interacting with a diverse group of readers and contributors. S/he is the point of contact for the managing editor that collects and submits notes on behalf of the writers. We seek a team player with creative ideas and energy to further develop the magazine’s social media strategy, one that is able to engage online audiences—including prospective advertisers —as well as provide valuable guidance on social media strategy to magazines colleagues. S/he must be self-directed and able to work well with staff; curious; driven to tell well stories; able to prioritize and think strategically; and able to see the big picture while keeping a close eye on the details.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

 

–        Responsible for staying current with the social media landscape and technologies to seek out opportunities for The G.O.O.D.S Magazine.

–        Responsible for reading, responding and routing all social media comments in a timely manner, working closely with the editors.  Based on the feedback, provide insights into future programs that would address the greatest needs

–        To be the social media communications expert at The G.O.O.D.S Magazine

–        Prepare status reports on marketing efforts.

–        Work collaboratively with the web designer to update and maintain The G.O.O.D.S Magazines website to ensure posted information about programs, initiatives, and events are comprehensive, current, compelling and dynamic.

–        Perform other duties related to the position, as assigned.
